SPB fans gathered well in advance at the venue - Kodandapani Audio Labs on Saturday, 18th December 2004 to pay their obeisance to the Uncrowned Monarch who has been donning the Indian Film Music industry till now with his incomparable, indomitable, golden voice-ever born. This meet was arranged as a felicitation to Shri S.P.Balasubrahmanyam on completing 38 years in the film industry.
The Magician, who mesmerized people with the cast of a powerful magic spell, came in a simple casual pinkish chocolate colour beach shirt and a bluish cement colour pant with a word of apology for his delayed arrival. Will the 30 minutes ever matter for fans, who were waiting for years longing to meet him or just have a glimpse of him? Now the long wait was over. Without wasting minutes, he rushed to Pallavi Arts dubbing theatre were all the arrangements were made for the meet.
The volunteers greeted SPB with a garland. The memento – an aptly chosen Sarawathi statue in a lit mandapam, selected by the organizers was presented to SPB.
SPB presented his biography, written by Mr. Radhakrishnan (alias Radhu) and an autographed photograph to each of the participants individually. All the participants signed a picture card to mark their presence and gave it to SPB.
After the formalities, the much-awaited Q&A session started. Most of the members participated in the session & sang songs, for all, SPB gave his comments. The highlight of this session is the song “Anjali Anjali Pushpanjali…” from the tamil movie DUET (composed by AR Rahman) sung as “SPB SPB Pushpanjali…” sung by Mr. C.Suresh with his own lyrics, without changing the tune. Everyone asked the intended questions for which SPB patiently
gave detailed answers. For every question, he narrated small interesting anecdotes and spoke about the persons related to the same. He also gave some tips and advice to the budding singers like how to maintain their voice and stressed to learn traditional Carnatic music. He finished the session with his usual words,
“SARVE JANAAHA SUKINO BHAVANTHU”.
After the Q&A session, fans gave away the memento, which they brought separately and got autographs on the photographs they took with him already, t-Shirts etc.,
The group then relocated to the ground floor portico of the studio for a group photo session. From there he departed waving his hand till the car left the studio.

From the start, till the end, the sweet smile on his face never faded even a little. He thanked the fans for giving him the chance to recollect sweet memories from the past….and also told how he’s going to repay for this love of the fans. He also mentioned that he would have arranged for lunch if he had known that this meet would take this long. Anyway, this privilege itself is a big treat to the fans and will there be a need for a food treat?
Man of the show, SPB, brought happiness and castaway sorrows indirectly through his divine voice to this day, had done n number of times more, directly, in this meet with his very own inimitable quality - HUMILITY.
VIVA SPB FOREVER!!!
