Singer S P Balasubramaniam sang a number of songs including romantic and devotional songs. He belted out some of Ilayaraja’s evergreen numbers.
Saturday evening was delightful for thousands of Bangaloreans as playback singer S P Balasubramaniam (SPB) regaled his fans with not only some of the most popular film numbers but also peppered the evening with some interesting anecdotes.
Clad in an off-white kurta and sporting a beard, SPB was in his element as he juggled songs in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi with dexterity and ease.
The fund-raising concert, organised by Comprehensive Trauma Consortium’s (CTC) a non-profit organisation aiming to provide free-ambulance service for accident victims within the golden-hour, certainly seemed to be a hit among music lovers who thronged the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) Stadium to hear him perform.
Hailing Ilayaraja as one of the ‘greatest composers in Indian cinema’, whose compositions have the quality of spurring his troupe with renewed vigour, Balasubramaniam belted out some of Ilayaraja’s evergreen numbers with great zeal.
However, it was the Hindi number Tere Mere Beech Mein that won a roaring applause. From devotional songs to romantic numbers ranging from Haadu Santhoshake to songs from the Kannada film Nammoora Mandara Hoove, SPB did it all.
Ambassador for CTC
Mr Balasubramaniam who is bestowed the title of ‘Roaming Ambassador for Comprehensive Trauma Consortium’, will be travelling to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to champion the cause taken up by Comprehensive Trauma Consortium.
Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Industries Minister P G R Sindhia were among those who attended the concert sponsored by Divya Sree Developers.
