SPB - CHITRA IN LEGENDS

This is yet another novel idea by Vijay TV. With telecast rights of star-studded shows going for astronomical amounts, Vijay had decided to organize their own shows. Recently Vijay TV conducted Legends - a musical night featuring the greatest legends of film music - S.P. Balasubramaniam and Chitra.

SPB the favourite of music lovers has sung for many great actors of the Tamil filmdom starting with MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan and went on to sing for Kamal Hasan, Rajnikant, Prabhu, Karthik, Vijaykant, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, and is still singing for the younger generation of actors like Ajith, Vijay, Vikram etc., His passion for music didn’t stop with singing but he has also composed music for many films in Tamil and Telugu. Chitra the singer slated to be the nightingale of Tamil cinema has worked with leading music directors from the past and the present like Illayaraja, Deva, Karthik Raja, Harris Jeyaraj, Vidhyasagar, Bharadwaj and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

In addition to the great legends the musical night also featured budding singers of Tamil cinema Pop Shalini and Devan. Shalini, who rose to fame at the age of 16 is now a singing sensation and an inspiration to the youth. Devan after his hit number in Azhagiya Theeye is the current rage of the youth. Apart from these great and young performers, the event also had actresses Sanghavi and Alphonsa dancing to the chartbusters.

The event staged before an invited audience in Chennai was aired on Vijay TV on prime time.
